Our Mission

Our Mission IS Mission!

One of the great strengths of our Presbyterian Church is our connection to national and global mission. Disaster Response Ministries works in association with the Church, a new worshiping community in Sacramento and partners with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbytery of Sacramento, Council of Protestant Churches of Nicaragua (CEPAD), and other Presbyterian partners throughout Northern California, the United States, and the World.
This collaborative approach to mission enables our mission teams to witness to the healing power of Christ’s love through caring for communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events. Our budget, including staff and administrative costs, is funded through a grant from the Presbytery of Sacramento and through generous donations and designated gifts.

Adult Missions

Volunteering changes your views on life – yours and those touched by your service. While you choose to serve on a short-term mission, your work changes the lives of others forever. You’ll discover that your donation of time and effort is a gift to those in need and a life-changing personal experience for you. Mission leaves a lasting impression on all hearts.

Family Mission

Change the lives of your family by sharing mission and ministry together. By serving areas struck by poverty or disaster, families are often enriched by reflection on daily activities and life lessons. Families who serve together tend to grow together in strength and faith. Family missions are for all ages.

Youth Missions

A big part of Disaster Response Ministries mission is enabling children and young adults to Christ’s Service. During school breaks, youth mission trips teach children the life-changing experience of serving needy communities with prayer, service projects and Vacation Bible School. Guided and chaperoned trips allow youth the opportunity to travel beyond their current comfort zones and experience the world in a new light.

Disaster Response Ministries

The power of Christ’s love, combined with the toil of our bodies and contributions from our wallets, enables Disaster Response Ministries to serve our Community, our Country, and our World. From serving dinners to local hungry families, collecting warm socks for our homeless neighbors, to rebuilding homes in disaster-torn states, to providing clean water, fishing nets, and first aid to other countries after devastating catastrophes, Disaster Response Ministries is there with caring support and a helping hand long after the media attention has ceased.

Long after the media leaves

When disaster strikes, the world is attentive until the media moves on to the next story. Disaster Response Ministries focuses on the long-term recovery of disaster impacted communities, after media attention has waned. Our mission teams go to disaster regions to rebuild homes and contribute to the relief of the survivors for the long term, and in doing so, enable young people to understand the gift of a life serving others. We work collaboratively with church partners locally, nationally, and internationally, and with other faith- based responders.
A mission trip, perhaps more than any other ministry, lives out the “sending forth” to go and serve. We are called, commissioned, and sent to an area affected by a disaster, and serve with a faith that we are open each day to be led by the Spirit. Participants share the opportunity to experience service in an authentic way through serving and sharing the real stories of transformation and faith from men and women who believe.
